We will be setting up two organizing meetings and would appreciate your participation and help. We’re hoping for wide participation from all the neighborhoods within the Central CAC boundaries (see below mapping info and links). If you would like to “opt out" of future emails, please let us know. You are receiving this email because you signed up for Raleigh’s Central CAC email list prior to 2020. As you may know, some CACs (like Central) stopped functioning after the Raleigh City Council voted in 2020 to end support of CACs. In 2024 the City Council voted to renew City support of CACs. Click here for more information about Citizen Advisory Councils on the City of Raleigh’s website. The Raleigh Citizen Advisory Council (RCAC) has received a request to restart the Central CAC. The primary role of CACs is to provide a vital link between Raleigh residents and city government. A group of your neighbors is working with the RCAC to reactivate the Central CAC. We need your participation to restart the Central CAC. There will be two upcoming organizing meetings at the John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center, 401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. 1) The First Community Meeting to restart the Central CAC will include an overview of the process to reactivate a CAC and solicit nominations for officers: Chair, 1st and 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, and Multimedia Coordinator. 2) The Second Community Meeting to reactivate the Central CAC will include a vote on the nominations. Upon the election of the new officers, a vote will take place to approve the CAC’s bylaws. After this second meeting, the RCAC will notify our City Council Liaison, staff contacts and District City Council members of the newly reactivated Central CAC. With this official recognition, the Central CAC will then have access to City resources like: meeting sites, funding, multimedia resources/IT, Zoom account, training of officers, and access to staff support.
